AG # 1 The guy from LCD Sound System was there in spirit.

Congratulations to artist Gene Tully whose proposal to fund the cost of a crane to install his piece entitled Warehouse Grotesques: Hatred, Greed, Violence, & Addiction (four 8 ft metal grotesques) on top of a concrete water tower standard on 9th & Jackson Streets won the most patron votes on Thursday evening at the inaugural Art Gumbo Soup Dinner. Tully was awarded $660 in patron donations for his proposal. Public Art funded by the Public!

The metal piece, Warehouse Grotesques
: Hatred, Greed, Violence and Addiction was created for the Voices From The Warehouse District VI: Transitions exhibition. The public art installation, funded by the communal Art Gumbo Microfund, will be a high visibility installation that will serve as testimony to the strength of the arts in our community and the growth of the district.

We had 10 incredibly diverse artist proposals, 53 patron votes, and collected $660 at the door (generous patrons!). Counting volunteers, submitting artists, and CSA Farmers there were more than 80 people at the event. Dang that vichyssoise was tasty!
