FAQ

How do I apply for an Art Gumbo Mini Grant?
Answer the posted questions for the current funding cycle and send them to us in an e-mail to art.gumbo.dbq@gmail.com (word document or word compatible docs ONLY.)
Be persuasive & concise in your narrative. The audience votes after reading all submitted grants. Win your audience. Please limit your application narrative to 500 words (approx 1 page). The first 7 eligible applications will compete for funding. You will be notified if your application is chosen to compete.)

How big is the grant?
That depends on how many patrons attend the event, everyone who pays ten dollars at the door gets 1 vote. Money received at the door goes back to the artist at the end of the night who has the most votes. If proceeds exceed $750, a Runner Up will be awarded the remaining amount.

How Do I Vote?
You will be given 1 ballot when you attend the dinner. You must be present at the dinner to vote. No ballots will be pre-sold. If you cannot attend, but want to support the Art Gumbo project, mail donations to: ART GUMBO, 378 MAIN ST., DUBUQUE, IA. 52001.

Who qualifies to apply for the grant?
Anyone/Group with an artistic project who could use a little extra funding and community support. Independent artists and arts groups are encouraged to apply. Project must demonstrate impact on Dubuque Community.

How are the grant winners held accountable for the money they receive?
We believe the patrons who attend art gumbo will hold the artists accountable.  We also ask that the winner(s) 1. Present a "progress report" at the next AG dinner 2. Provide volunteer support at the next AG dinner (serving soup, working the door, set-up/clean-up etc.)
