"Cosmetology/live runway art is beginning to gain momentum in this region and we believe that with the support of Art Gumbo, Jones says. "We can continue to put Dubuque on the map as an arts and performance harbor."

Dubuque Area Arts Collective won $378 for the support of their studio. They plan to use the money to create studio bays, purchase drawing tables, stools, shelving, and basic art supplies.

DAAC Volunteer Amanda Reynolds describes their main goals as "Raising the profile of young emerging artists in Dubuque, to motivate them to pursue their creative interests, to encourage them to gain experience through volunteer work, to strengthen their skills through free tutoring and workshops, and to enable them to participate in the community's art affairs." Tim Olson presented the winners with a print of one section of his 110-foot long DubuqueFest Panorama.

DAAC has offered to host the June installment of AG at their art center. We happily, greedily, shamelessly accepted!

The evening also included a proposal by Dubuque Area Writers Guild for the publication of their annual anthology Gallery, a collection of mixed-genre work by regional writers and artists released each May.

Writers Guild Co-Moderator Heidi Zull.
Stay tuned for details for the June 20 installment of AG #16.

FYI: Since 2010 Art Gumbo has funded 24 projects with $11,685.
